A Personal Note from Carmin
Do you know why most of us don't have want we really want and desire? Because we are afraid to ask - me included.
A couple of weeks ago, my son returned to Hollywood, California to work on his budding acting career and a couple of days after he left my 8-year old granddaughter, Nia, asked me, "Can I and Uncle David share the extra room?" I replied, "Sure; since he's gone back to California, you are more than welcome to sleep in the extra bedroom." Next thing I knew, this kid had painted all kinds of posters and plastered them to the walls of the room, placed her Cinderella shoes and crown on the dresser and just totally transformed the room from a non-descript guest room to a vibrant, little girl's room. She did all this in the space of 30 minutes. I can't help but believe that she had been planning this move (she normally sleeps with me in my bed when she visits) for a while and she waited and when the moment was right, she asked. She asked and she received.
A week later, the entire nation witnessed a homeless woman in Ft. Myers, Florida ask the leader of the free world, President Barack Obama to help her and her family because they were homeless sleeping in a small truck. She asked and the world delivered. The woman is now living rent free in a home owned by a City Councilman and his wife, her son has a job and many offers of help have poured in. Why? Because she asked; she asked and she received.
Promise me this will you? The next time you want something, just ask. You may have to ask God, you may have to ask a human being. Quit doing without and ask. If God says "No," then know that it is in your best interest; if God says "Wait" then be at peace and wait. If a human being says "No," ask another human being. If a human being says "Wait" ask them for how long and see if you can negotiate to get whatever you need sooner.
Whatever you do, just ask!
Thanks for you continued support. I am honored that we have connected.

Multitasking is
Dead by Carmin Wharton
[fname], do you know why you can’t get more done?
No? Then kill
multi-tasking – totally eliminate multi-tasking from your business life.
Have you ever had this happen to you? You're working on a project that requires your full attention and
creativity, such as writing your newsletter or designing an information
product, and suddenly a family member or employee interrupts you while you were
concentrating - deeply. Even if you tell them you are busy and go back to work,
it takes you quite a while before you can re-align your mind into
what you were doing before.
Focus and discipline is what helps you complete a project. If you are a home-based business owner,
“projects” usually have profit tied to them and so you must be able to focus
and be disciplined enough to say “no” to something else clamoring for your
attention at the same time. Here are some
things I have started to doing to keep me focused on what I’m doing while I do
one thing at a time:
1. Clear your desk of anything unrelated to your current project. Believe
it or not, those slips of paper, notes and things you “intend to get to” are
commanding your attention and draining your energy – energy you need to focus
on the task at hand.
2. Plan your day out so that you can focus in on one task at a
time. Set times to complete urgent tasks, reading and responding to emails (I
suggest twice a day for checking email), marketing and listening to teleseminar
recordings. Then keep to your schedule. Unless a real emergency presents
itself, don’t veer off of your schedule. Complete one project or task and then
move on.
3. Complete those tasks that have the highest rate of return for
your business. High rate of return items are the things that will accelerate
your success and increase your bank account.
4. Take short breaks away from your desk and office. Go walk the
dog, play music, cook or read something purely recreational. Doing something
completely unrelated to your business or technology will refresh and
reinvigorate you.
5. Create your schedule for tomorrow. Schedule your high rate of
return items first and then whittle down the remainder of your to do list. If a project or task took longer than you
intended and you were not able to mark it off today’s to do list, move these items to
tomorrow’s to do list but after the high rate of return projects or tasks.
I believe if you stop multi-tasking and really focus on the
project or task at hand you will find that you accomplish more, reduce your
stress and increase your profits.

If you don't have a backup system in place to protect the files on your computer, please don't wait another day to do so! I feel really bad when someone tells me that they have lost all of the files on their computer, including many one-of-a-kind files that will be difficult to recreate. People lose their files because their system crashed for some reason. Make sure this does not happen to you. Companies online will store your data for free or at a very low monthly fee. You can get 2GB Totally Free Online Backup! Compliments of Mozy . This is the system I use to store my personal and e-BlackWomenNetwork files.
